Dot.com boom and bust!

In the early 90's, the advancement of technology reached unprecedented level, where a media articles and Hollywood fictional films of technology forecast overtake the excitement of the population in the Unites States. The news were talking a someday in the near future refrigerators could display milk going out and shopping items was needed to refill. This kind of information about a new technology reached beyond its limit. It grasped the attention of many people to invest early for small startup tech-companies that were capable of changing the way world use to do the business before. This situation finally created a technological gold rash in the mid-90's.

However, there were some reasons that was caused the bust of Dot.com boom!

Over-excitement of investing new technology without unknowing the financial situations of those startup companies was a one factor.

Lack of institutional regulation about the tech-IPO and how those IPO should been traded. At the same time, how some companies go public was a part of the problem.

Rich faster and harry to invest was one of the obvious mistakes the many peoples made during the Dot.com.

Suddenly, in March, 2000 the financial market in New York collapsed due to bad investment of tech-companies IPO and the shares of most tech-companies dropped half or more. While so many companies out of business in matter of days.

Erik Hanberg.

For me, listening Erik as a guest speaker in our class was very special, and I am really appreciated the opportunity that Prof. Andrew Fry give us to meet, listening and asked Erik questions about his internet success story. Which was an encouragement of how benefit the unlimited opportunity of technology today and how someone can achieve a great things with using the internet advantage. Indeed, the takeaway of the guest speaker’s main points were:

¨     Internet is an opportunity for creative and self-driven entrepreneurial individuals that are willing to succeed in the world of technology.

¨     If you are realistic about your dreams and you have the energy to promote yourself into a beautiful future, internet is yours, and it has unlimited open door for you to accomplish your goal of better life.

¨     Finally the Erik speech was a motivational that elevated our dream as a students. If Erik succeed the world of technology and become a self- publishing author of nine books, then anyone else can also succeed with excuse.

Things I would not buy online

As a technology grow exponentially, the solution of anything becoming closer and closer. For not long ago, buying something online was a dream, or a fiction, but today the reality far different which I mean, we are debating. What we cannot buy online? Since online market become tool can sell everything. However, in my opinion, I would not buy the following things online.

*    Human organs and live animals.

*    First, it is an ethical issues for buying human organ, it is also very serious when it comes to buying thorough the internet too, where I cannot tested whether it alive, sick or dead organ. Secondly I cannot know whether it is a stolen organ or someone sell it because of financial hardship.

*    Similarly, live animal can be sick, or may have a behavior problems and etc. So it is better for me to checks their behavior and test their health before buying it online because they may have a rabies, or a similar diseases.

*    Buying drug prescription online can cause a serious problems. So I would not consider to buy something that is affecting my health. Because I do know whether the individual who prescribing the drug for me is certified or not. At the same time. I need to know whether I am allergic to the medication or not, before buying it. So it would not fit my option either.

*    Finally, I would prefer to go Grocery store, rather than buying online for fruits and vegetables because I want to buy fresh pieces that I can see, check, touch, and smile. And I don’t want to buy a pieces that has a damage, old or smile bad.

Therefore, I would not even considering to buying those things for the internet, because they are directly relate for my personal health and the well-being of myself. So, I would choose the best option which is; not buy those things online.

Search things thorough the internet.

Before the internet “boom” search things was very hard and time consumed subject. But after the boom, so many search engines emerged from the horizon. While those search engines were fighting dominate one other, they made the process of search things very fast, easy and simple. Now, to find things you need thorough out the internet will take you less an hour or so. For example, the scavenger hunt in our class for last Monday. All the 19 questions that Prof. Andrew Fry asked to search in the class time was found during the class period. Where some of those questions seemed like a puzzle for the beginning such as “what is the married name of my middle sister.” And so on.

However, what I wonder is not the fast time we found the answers but, the process of found private information of the Prof’s family thorough internet in a matter of hour. Which is shocking to me, if someone can find your private information, and personal records with short time. Like how some students found the Prof’s middle sister married name. And the students only known the Prof name Andrew Fry. Then, there is no such a privacy at all. Consequently, this means we already give up our personal information with not even notice it.
